چکیده

Digital waveguide networks (DWNs) have recently been proposed as a means of simulating the time-evolution of various physical systems, especially within the context of musical sound synthesis [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. In 1D, the technique has been applied to vibrations in acoustic tubes, and in strings; in this case, any uninterrupted stretch of air or string (uninterrupted by changes in tube crosssectional area, terminations, tone-holes, bow/pick/hammer interactions, variations in string density, etc.) is modelled as a single bidirectional delay line, which directly implements a discrete version of the travelling wave solution to the wave equation, given by

Circuit Modeling of General Hybrid Uniform Waveguide Structures in Chiral Anisotropic Inhomogeneous Media

A new generalized high-frequency transmission line model is presented for general uniform hybrid waveguide structures consisting of inhomogeneous isotropic or anisotropic media. Starting from Maxwell's equations, the generalized coupled telegrapher's equations are found and the frequency-dependent transmission line parameter matrices R(~o), G(w), L(c0), and C(w) are defined in an unambiguous wa...

Programming of inhomogeneous resonant guided wave networks.

Photonic functions are programmed by designing the interference of local waves in inhomogeneous resonant guided wave networks composed of power-splitting elements arranged at the nodes of a nonuniform waveguide network. Using a compact, yet comprehensive, scattering matrix representation of the network, the desired photonic function is designed by fitting structural parameters according to an o...

Design of Arrayed Waveguide Grating based Optical Switch for High Speed Optical Networks

This paper demonstrates the design of an Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG) based optical switch. In the design both physical and network layer analysis is performed. The physical layer power and noise analysis is done to obtain Bit Error Rate (BER). This has been found that at the higher bit rates, BER is not affected with number of buffer modules. Network layer analysis is done to obtain perfor...

Waveguide effect under 'antiguiding' conditions in graded anisotropic media.

A new wave confinement effect is predicted in graded crystals with a concave slowness surface under conditions of growth of the phase velocity with decreasing distance from the waveguide axis. This finding overturns the common notion about the guiding and 'antiguiding' profiles of wave velocity in inhomogeneous media. The waveguide effect found is elucidated by means of ray analysis and particu...

A Higher Order B-Splines 1-D Finite Element Analysis of Lossy Dispersive Inhomogeneous Planar Layers

In this paper we propose an accurate and fast numerical method to obtain scattering fields from lossy dispersive inhomogeneous planar layers for both TE and TM polarizations. A new method is introduced to analyze lossy Inhomogeneous Planar Layers. In this method by applying spline based Galerkin’s method of moment to scalar wave equation and imposing boundary conditions we obtain reflection and...
